Suspect Attempts to Run from Jackson County Sheriff's Office

On 7-16-14 at 11:03 pm deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office were at an address on Flamingo Lane attempting to serve an arrest warrant.

As they were returning to their patrol vehicles, one officer observed a male seated in the front passenger seat of a car that was parked in the yard.  No one was behind the wheel of the vehicle.

The subject, later identified as Robert L Garrett, quickly ducked down behind the dash in an effort to conceal himself from the officer. They observed a small baggie of marijuana on the floorboard between the Garrett’s legs in plain view.

Garrett was ordered out of the vehicle. As the officers took control of one of his hands he was advised to place his other hand on the roof of the car.

As the officers attempted to handcuff Garrett, he spun around off of the vehicle and caused the officer to fall backwards off his feet and fled on foot.

Garrett was Tarazed by an officer as he was running down Flamingo Lane toward Merritt’s Mill Rd and was taken into custody

During the course of a post-miranda interview, Garrett admitted that the marijuana was his and admitted to attempting to hide from the officers in the car. A small baggie of suspected powder cocaine, several small pieces of suspected crack cocaine, and a small amount of marijuana were found in a cigarette pack adjacent to Garrett.

After being medically cleared by Jackson County Fire Rescue, Garrett was placed  in the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance in court.

UPDATE

DALE COUNTY:   Dale County Sheriff Deputies and other emergency responders are on the scene of a shooting in Dale County. Reports are they have one patient, condition unknown. A second ambulance has been requested to check patients.

The location is County Road 23 and County Road 33. This is in the Skipperville area.

We are attempting to get more information.

UPDATED @ 9:22 PM

Skipperville Rescue is transporting to Dale Medical Center. Sheriff Wally Olson has requested Ozark Police to respond to the hospital.

All circumstances are unknown.

UPDATED @ 9:52 PM

All officers are reported OK. The shooting scene, from UNCONFIRMED SOURCES, report the shooting involved law enforcement and the Billy Wayne Lomineck, who was wanted by Dale County Sheriff Department.

Reports are Lomineck forced officers to use deadly physical force. However UNCONFIRMED SOURCES report the suspect was shot in the arm. As we understand Lomineck injury is not life threatening.

Skipperville Rescue transported the suspect to Dale Medical Center. Ozark EMS was called to the scene to check the officers.

Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson is on the scene. I have not attempted to bother him because I can only imagine with only 19 deputies in the entire department he is wrapped up and does not need to be bothered. That is why information is from UNCONFIRMED but reliable sources throughout Dale County

Authorities are looking for a Skipperville man wanted on felony sexual assault-related charges, including first-degree rape.
Dale County Sheriff’s Capt. Mason Bynum said deputies are looking for 50-year-old Billy Wayne Lomaneck.
“He is wanted for rape first and incest,” Bynum said. “We do have active warrants for him.”
Bynum said deputies have been looking for Lomaneck since Thursday when they obtained the warrants for his arrest. Bynum said the victim of the sexual related crime offenses was a female juvenile.
“It’s been an ongoing investigation since December, and Thursday we caught a big break in the case,” Bynum said. “We sent deputies to his house. He saw us coming and he fled on foot into the woods.”
Deputies attempted to arrest and capture Lomaneck at his home located on Dale County Road 70 in Skipperville.
“He lives in a very rural area almost to the Barbour County line, and it’s in some pretty dense woods,” Bynum said. “It’s pretty much his back yard, and he knows the area very well.”
Bynum also said deputies believe they found evidence in the woods where Lomaneck has been camping.
“We do think he’s trying to solicit outside help as far as food,” Bynum said. “If we find out anyone is helping him we’re going to charge them as well.”
Bynum also cautioned people against approaching Lomaneck calling him armed and dangerous. He said deputies believe Lomaneck to be armed with a pistol.
“He knows he’s wanted and he knows we’re looking for him,” Bynum said. “He did leave a note at the house that he was not going back to jail alive, so he is a very dangerous man.”
Bynum said Lomaneck has a prior felony conviction for third-degree burglary.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Billy Wayne Lomaneck can call Bynum of sheriff’s investigators Billy Crawford at 334-774-2335.
